The oocyte is only available for fertilization about 6-10 hours after ovulation. As many as about 25% of animals exhibit delayed ovulation in fixed time AI (FTAI) programs – especially during hot weather – leading to non-conception. Cystorelin is used 6 hours prior to- or, at the time of AI, to aid in overcoming this problem, resulting in a pre-ovulatory LH peak 2 hours after injection, followed by ovulation about 26 hours later.
Cystorelin treats cystic follicles.
